Stunt Driving
Stunt driving charges are relatively new in the Province of Ontario and are common in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. The results of these charges can be devastating to your driving privileges and your insurance. In many cases you will be forced to get all-risks insurance and pay the thousands of dollars increases.
There are many circumstances where you can find yourself facing this serious charge, with one of the most common being exceeding the speed limit by 50 km/hr or more. Other circumstances could include numerous lane changes weaving in and out of traffic, causing your vehicle tires to lose traction (spinning your tires or doing doughnuts), but it is not limited to these alone.
If you are charged with this offence there will be an automatic administrative suspension of your driver's license of seven days along with the impoundment of your motor vehicle for the same period. You will also receive a summons with a court date. There is no appeal to the suspension or the impoundment, and until all the fees for towing and storage are paid your vehicle will not be released even at the end of the seven day period.
